Pair of Toleware Chestnut Urns

Height: 11.75” (30cm); Width: 8.5” (21.5cm); Depth: 4.75” (12cm).
In excellent condition, the paint remarkably well preserved.
A finely polychrome painted pair of Regency black toleware chestnut urns adorned with flowering foliage each with a gilt finial and outscrolling arms.
These urns would have been used to carry hot chestnuts from the fireplace to the dining table. When not in use, they acted as decorative ornaments hence their attractive neoclassical shape.
